Heaven on Earth

Nick and Sadie. Sorry about all the thigh Nick is showing. Just focus on Sadie.
I love her smile! It is so intense!
She was playing with Nick's glasses and his big head.
Tara made this bow for her. Cute huh!
Nick was playing peek-a-boo from behind the bed. She loved it!
Love her fluffy hair in this picture! Reminds me of the '80's!
Sadie loves her bath time! She consistently soaks both Nick and I because she LOVES to splash!
Enjoying dinner.
I gave her pigtails! They kinda look like horns though.

I just need to post really quick my excitement! Okay, first let me give you some background information to why I am so excited:
Sadie's sleeping life in a nutshell has been as follows:
1. Colicky for the first couple months, never slept much also.
2. Started sleeping 8-10 hrs. at night from months 2-3. YAY!
3. Got croupe really really bad so stopped sleeping at nights.
4. Has always only taken 30 minute naps.
6. Last week I counted that by 2:30 am (and she went to bed at 9 or 9:30) I had been up with her about 8-9 times! (And this goes on all night!)

Soooo, needless to say, I never get any sleep! I nurse her throughout the night to settle her back down but she just wakes up after half an hour to an hour and a half of sleeping and starts the sequence all over again. I have even tried giving her the pacifier (because I know she's not hungry) and having Nick give her the pacifier and go pat her on the back every 15-20 minutes while she's crying but nothing has seemed to work!!!
My friend has the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and so on Tuesday this week I borrowed it and read it frantically all day. I was hoping it could help me out, but I had previously read Baby Wise and felt like nothing in there had worked for Sadie thus far. Knock on wood, but I figured nothing could help Sadie because she apparently had some serious sleeping disorder! Anyways, the book helped so much! We had to let her cry it out, which was super hard, but by night 3 (last night), I am happy to report that Sadie went to bed at 8 pm and didn't wake up to nurse until 4:30 am! Then she went back to sleep and awoke for the day at 7:15!!! She is taking naps so much better also! Still usually one 30-40 minute nap a day but the others are about an hour now! I am so happy! Being a Mom just got a heck of a lot easier!

Thanks Ashley and Travis for recommending the book, thank you Stephanie for letting me borrow it, thank you Tara for endless phone counseling regarding infant sleep and schedules, thank you Nick for helping me keep my sanity for the last 6 1/2 months, thank you God for listening and answering my prayers, and last but certainly not least, thank you Sadie for being trainable and for letting me finally feel like I am wearing the pants!

We have that book as well and loved it! We started sleep training around 5 months and it made a huge difference. However, we're needing to go through a little sleep training again because he thinks it's okay for mommy to come get him twice before falling asleep. Not okay for a 18 month old.

Glad to hear that Sadie is finally sleeping for you!

Great job, Haley!! Letting them cry it out is hard, isn't it. But it has to be done sometimes. I'm working on that with Mitty right now!

Love ya, and Sadie is sure cute!

I tried Babywise, and it was a huge disaster. I held a grudge against that book for promising me that it would work miracles! And it irritated me when people would recommend it "It WILL work! It ALWAYS worked for me!!" With our next baby (NO, I am NOT pregnant again), I think I'll read this one that worked for you.

I'm happy you're sleeping again! I felt a kindred spirit in you when we were both at Grandma's, and you emerged looking exhausted, and your mom told you you would have to toughin (sp?) up.
Sadie's looking pretty adorable! She has such a huge smile!

Dear Sadie,
Your smile makes my heart happy. Thanks for sharing it cute girl!

I've read and loved both of those books, I combined some of the principles and that seemed to work really well for my boys. So glad to hear that she's sleeping better. Sleep really does make all the difference in the world, for them and you.
